Thakoon and Bridget Riley
While we were looking at the pre-fall shows recently, we were particularly taken aback by one dress by Thakoon. This dress features a white background with black and white zig zags. Since we liked the dress so much we did some searching and discovered an artist, Bridget Riley, who had a similar piece from which Thakoon probably drew inspiration. Her piece is called “Blaze 1″, and was created in 1961. Here are both of them for you to compare!
White is the New Black
In early 2011 we’ve been noticing two specific trends coming from many places. Subtle prints on a white background, and prints with conversational elements pulled and made into beautiful non-print prints, also with a white background.
